Networks like Reality TV because making reality shows is very cheap. As for the audience, they probably enjoy seeing people make fool of themselves and fight with each other.

Personally, I don't watch any reality shows.

There really is a bunch of reality shows called "Real Housewives of ..." Usually it's some upscale location, like New York, Atlanta, Beverly Hills, etc. I tried to think what U.S. city would most NOT be the setting of such a superficial, image-based show.

Hehe, poor Sheboygan.

Public executions would be a winner if they could be made more interesting than lethal injection....
beheadings? impalement? seppuku?

You'd have to make it a game show, like in the movie "The Running Man." Prisoners being hunters by sadistic, costumed freaks. And of course, with Richard Dawson hosting the show. :P

The death of Saddam Hussein was farcical. Compare that to the mass public hangings at Tyburn... short drop, slow strangulation, great public spectacle, and CONTROLLED.
As it was Husseins execution was a botchjob, the filming was a botchjob....
aaagh. If 't were done, it needs to be done PROPERLY.

Impalement could be a winner, if managed so that death was slow, with the struggles of the condemned causing further penetration of the stake...
worked for Vlad Dracul....

Dang Arc, you got a bloodlust going for you today. You're normally so much calmer on the Jack forums. :P

I dunno, public executions aren't far down the line of 'Must See TV'. Things are just getting worse and worse in terms of quality, and TV networks are going to more and more extremes to get viewers rather than have them waste time in other places.

Like online. :)

I prefer blood and gore on tv to stay fictional.

Sorry DD the leg ulcers playing up and my batch of stew had no carrots (I found when I was filling the pressure cooker the carrots had time expired beyond shaving & slicing....I thought of carrot wine then used old parsnips instead)
I need carrots to stay settled.
Meanwhile I have a lot of stew to eat which only the cook would love - and even he has doubts.
