To quote a friend on Skype, "leading research suggests that the insane are in fact saner than most people think"

She will then be driven insane by her sanity, resulting in a vicious cycle.

  Legibility ( Reply )

Chuckthulu's font is almost entirely uncomprehensible. Most of the time I can puzzle out what it says with some time, but in the case of the last word he says in this comic, I haven't a fricking clue. I find it highly annoying that I can't merely read it. Surely we can communicate the oddity of the speech without the extreme of making it vastly illegible.

See, this is what happens when you don't break the 4th Wall to let some of the crazy out. It backs up and then BLAMMO, tidal wave of crazy followed by sane amounts of depression.

Cloud Cuckoo Land explained ( Reply )

The term 'Cloud Cuckoo Land' originated with the Greek playwright Aristophanes' farce 'The Birds' meaning an imaginary place in the sky and was later used in discourses by the German philosophers Schopenhauer and Nietzsche (Ger: Wolkenkuckcucksheim). Speaking to a person' beliefs, it refers to someone living in a state of naivete', unreality and hopeless optimism.

Sounds like Reece to me. :D

Chuckie's dialogue is set in the font Samurai Cab Co. Much of its degree of illegibility is derived from the comparatively small size of the letterforms in the strip; here's a nice, clean, larger 'specimen sheet' of the font which may hopefully help people like Skylos…

Thus, the way to fight Chuck is to cause a font switch. Hopefully not to Zapf Dingbats.

  Its like a code ( Reply )

I have to question the wisdom of using a font that requires a lookup table to understand. Also using it in outline mode makes it twice as difficult to understand. Ah. Referencing cloud cuckoo land is an philosophical intellectualism thing. Way to go over the heads of just about every single audience member. :P
